This seminar is designed for engineers, advanced technicians and technical
managers who deal with manufacturing or processing. Past seminars were
found to be most effective as a training tool for new plant engineers,
or transferees from other departments. It provides the needed background
training in the fundemental concepts of tube making.
The faculty of the workshop will provide a working knowledge of these
processes. This course will convey to the participants a basic understanding
of the mechanics of these processes and methods for process optimization
and product improvement. The use of computer modeling will be presented
for tube sinking, and as an aid to the understanding of the parameters
of the floating plugs. A computer software packages will be demonstrated.
Emphasis will be placed on computer modeling and control. Demonstration
and "hands-on" experience in the use of PCs in a user-friendly,
interactive method of modeling will be provided.
There will be time set aside for open discussions, as well as question
and answer sessions.
For more information, see the pages describing alternative
tube making processes.
