Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about MFI:
See our
technical Q&A page.
This page is designed to handle topics that arise repeatedly, and to
provide accessible response, sometimes even before a formal inquiry is made.
Question:
What manuscripts has Prof. Avitzur published and how
can one get them?
Answer:
Avitzur's publications are listed in "Betz's
Publication List" page at this web site.
You can conveniently order the available books through Amazon.Com's
online bookstore. The books that are still "in print" can also
be ordered from the Publisher.
Books that are out of print can be acquired from used books stores. They
can also be loaned from libraries, as can copies of the papers listed.
All books have been pirated by Asian publishers, but we do not endorse
this illegal practice.
It is our long range dream to give access to all papers listed on the web
site. Practical considerations require that this goal will be attempted
piecemeal with some prioritization.
More recent papers which are already stored electronically can be transformed
into an HTML file sooner than older papers. (See my
personal impressions page). More frequently requested papers should
also be prioritized.
We can only get to this project slowly because our resources (personnel,
equipment, and budget) are limited, and furnishing hard copies of the papers
becomes too expensive a burden in time and resources to be provided free.
The demand on time and budget is becoming prohibitive. Nevertheless we
wish to continue to accommodate a free access to these publications, whereby
Xerox copies on request will be replaced by access through web pages. It
looks like this process can be expedited if we get some help and cooperation.
There are amongst you those who are better suited to prepare the publications
in one of the more acceptable file formats. If you request a specific paper,
and it is not yet available on the web site, you might volunteer to set
that paper only, so that it will be added to those papers that become available
to the public. Accepted formats might include: HTML,
Postscript,
Adobe Acrobat,
or TeX.
In time most of the popular papers will become available free on the web.
Please think about it.
Other media such as: Reports, Videos, Taped Lectures and Software are
described in the appropriate pages of this web site. [ Tutorials

Question:
Where can we find updated information on coming events
and news in the wire industry?
Answer:
All the wire journals, such as "The Journal of the Wire Association
International", issue periodicals. One interesting source of information
is Wire World Internet, which contains
news, upcoming events and bulletin boards (amongst other features).
Question:
Due to a cycling market, we are experiencing an
influx of untrained personnel. Does Metalforming Inc. have a suggestion?
Answer:
This is a common problem in the present day downsizing economy. In a
downsizing market, companies lose their experienced employees. Then on
an upswing, companies hire newer, less experienced personnel, unfamiliar
with the current state of technology.
Our renewed program of seminars
was designed to offer industry the opportunity to educate their new personnel
in the fundamentals of specific metal forming technologies and techniques.
Question:
Can you provide names of companies that Metalforming
Inc. has consulted to?
Answer:
Please tune in next week...
